Working in collaboration with United Street Pianos and Sofia Taliani, I am trying to raise the money to fund our new United Street Pianos project in Venice, Italy. On the 14th February we will be donating a Grand Piano to the ‘Ospedale dell’Angelo’ in Mestre, Venice, however we need to raise some money to make this project happen. This will be the second piano given to a Venetian Hospital and I will be making a short film documenting this donation from United Street Pianos with original music composed by Sofia Taliani and Francesco Gibaldi.
The aim of United Street Pianos is to bring people together through the love of music by offering a place where everyone is welcome to play, listen or just mingle with the rest of humanity. Sofia Taliani, italian pianist and singer, was inspired by the time spent playing the street pianos at St Pancras station in London’s King Cross. On experiencing the intense participation and livening up of the station caused by the presence of three pianos, with all sorts of different people stopping to play, listen and communicate with one another, Sofia decided she wanted to develop her own version of the idea for the city of Venice.
Since 2014 in Venice we have donated street pianos to Santa Lucia Train Station, the Michelangelo Guggenheim Liceo Artistico Statale, SS Giovanni e Paolo Hospital and the Ca’ Pesaro Museum of Modern Art. We feel that music is one of the most powerful gifts on this earth and we would hugely appreciate any contribution in helping us share this gift with the people of Venice and the patients at Ospedale dell’Angelo.
